Finish Carpentry

Carpentry & Trim Work

Crown molding, baseboards, wainscoting, coffered ceilings, and custom built-ins. The finishing details that transform a good renovation into a truly polished home. Serving Arlington, Fairfax, Manassas, and Northern Virginia.

What we do

The details that make a home truly special.

Finish carpentry is the work that separates a home that feels average from one that feels genuinely well-crafted. It's the difference between crown molding that flows through a room with tight, perfect corners and one that has visible gaps at every joint. At Ventura Home Improvement, we've been doing finish carpentry in Northern Virginia, Arlington, Fairfax, and McLean for over 20 years, and our team understands that this work is as much craft as trade.

Our carpentry services cover the full spectrum of interior finish work. Crown molding installation, including multi-piece assemblies for greater height and detail, is one of our most popular services for homeowners who want to add architectural character without a full renovation. We cope interior corners rather than miter them, which produces tight joints that won't open as the wood moves with seasonal humidity changes.

Wainscoting and board-and-batten walls are another specialty. We install flat panel, raised panel, and beadboard wainscoting with proper spacing, level rail placement, and clean cap molding. Chair rail installations are measured and installed at the correct proportional height for your room. Picture frame molding designs are planned down to the last inch before the first nail goes in.

Our custom built-in work includes shelving flanking fireplaces, window seats with storage, bench-and-locker systems for mudrooms, pantry cabinet installation, and entertainment centers. These projects are designed during the consultation phase to fit your specific space, budgeted precisely, and built on-site using solid materials.

Why choose Ventura for your carpentry & trim work?

Finish carpentry is detail work that requires patience and precision — cope joints, miter returns, and scribe cuts that fit cleanly against walls that are never perfectly plumb. Oscar's crew does this by hand, every time.

We handle carpentry both as a standalone service and as part of larger renovation projects. If you're remodeling a kitchen or bathroom, the molding work integrates cleanly into the same project.

Our custom built-in work — shelving, window seats, mudroom benches, pantry systems — is designed to look like it always belonged in your home, not an afterthought addition.

Carpentry & trim work questions

What types of molding profiles do you install?

We install all standard and custom profiles: crown molding (including multi-piece assemblies), base molding, chair rail, picture frame rail, wainscoting panels (flat and raised), door and window casing, coffered ceiling beams, and decorative ceiling medallions. We can match existing profiles in your home or introduce a new style.

Do you paint the molding after installation?

Yes, we can handle both installation and painting as a full-service package. After installation, we caulk all joints, fill nail holes, prime bare wood, and apply finish coats. We can also work with your painter if you prefer to manage that separately.

Can you match existing molding in an older home?

In most cases, yes. We source molding profiles from specialty suppliers throughout Northern Virginia and can find very close matches to original profiles in older homes. For truly unique original profiles, we can also have custom molding milled to match.
